Next time you cast an Ensnaring strike spell, hit a creature using a weapon attack. Also, a mass of thorny plants would appear at the point where the spell ends. Even if the target succeeds on a Strength saving Throw, it should be restrained until the end by the magical vines. This saving throw is more favorable for larger creatures than those that are smaller.  If the target succeeds on the saving throw, the vines will shrivel.

Restrained by this spell, the target takes 1d6 damage to its piercing ability at the beginning of each of its turns. A creature that is not restrained by vines, or another creature that can be touched, can use its action to make a strength check against your DC. The target is now freed after a successful attack.
